WERRIBEE Juniors under-18A team's Western Regional Football League premiership hopes received a reality check in a hefty 50-point loss to arch-nemesis Altona in the second semi-final at Chirnside Park on Saturday.
The two grand finalists from last year had a lot of history coming into the match after an ugly brawl in last year's under-18 grand final.
This time, it was a clean and honest fight to the end -
and Altona Juniors, premiers last season, repeated the dose with a 14.14 (98) to 7.6 (48) win.
Altona Vikings' Brandon Turner booted four goals and Daniel Mutton snared three.
Josh Rafferty and Corey Lawson were dominant, causing headaches in the middle of the ground for the Tigers. for whom Andrew Maxwell and Sean Schumacher were best.
Werribee Juniors will now take on cross-town rivals Hoppers Crossing in what promises to be an epic preliminary final at Chirnside Park this Saturday morning.
Hoppers Crossing under-18s won its first semi-final in a heated display at Chirnside Park on Sunday by 40-points.
Aaron Williams kicked four goals, while Justin Chircop and Josh Munro were resilient for the Warriors.
